Facebook Messenger 2.1 for Improved Bots Experience

Facebook has launched Messenger Platform 2.1 on 27th July 2017 with most awaited Natural Language Processing (NLP) capabilities driving it as a better tool for business communication. The built-in NLP capability enables the platform to detect some key attributes from the messages or inquiries before being passed to the business bots. With NLP, messenger is able to pick some important information while interacting with the customer viz. date, time, location, amount of money and contact information like phone number, email addresses and URL.

As reported by Facebook’s post the new version of Messenger has also provided updates to the platform by improving collaboration across apps and improving payments. Business people can add the newly introduced Call to Action buttons Shop Now, Get Support, Get updates, Play Now, Get Started on their Facebook page to expect a better messenger experience.

The customer view is also kept in consideration with the new platform. They can get the right help on time without ending up with long and inconclusive conversations with a machine which cannot lend any useful information to the customers. The platform offers a handover protocol with NLP which will business bots to better understand the end user queries and respond to the more complicated queries just like a human employee. This Handover protocol service is now in open beta. A new SDK has been launched to provide a more efficient payment process where customers can pay easily through messenger via a one step process.

Wit.ai, which has offered their Bot Engine to service almost 100,000 developers till date, has also announced a closure because they feel that the bot development environment has seen a substantial growth with their technology going non-current. The reason behind their decision is their understanding and acceptance that Messenger and other platforms have come up with better means of interaction in addition to text. Bot Engine will be there until February 1, 2018 to give a breathing time to developers for migrating their apps.

Facebook believes that using Messenger 2.1 companies would be able to scale their business with no trouble using its functionalities fully available on web and mobile device.
